Do any of these people actually teach or work in public schools?

Range Rover, You might be surprised to know that most of the participants either are currently, or have been K-12 or Higher Education teachers, some earning awards for excellence in teaching. Importantly, they are also engaged in research related to education funding, policy, curriculum and teaching, and several are recognized nationally as experts in education reform.

OK, so who among them specifically has taught in a K-12 public school (not a private school or higher ed)?

Range Rover….You may want to refer to Gary Gross’s comment above where he points out that ….”The panel consists of Rep. Pam Myhra, a former school teacher and Rep. Sondra Erickson, a retired school teacher. ”

So, although, I disagree with your premise that current K-12 teaching is prerequisite to expertise in the K-12 system, there is K-12 experience on the panel.

You might also be surprised to learn that President Obama’s Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, has no teaching experience of any kind– not K-12, not Higher Ed…None. Does this disqualify him from leading the nations department of education?

It sounds like you have plenty to offer and we would enjoy the discussion if you attend the forum. Hope to see you there.
